TRENTON — S.C. Gov. Henry McMaster and a slate of other government, community and industry leaders on Thursday helped celebrate the grand opening of a Generac Power Systems hub.

Together, the officials cut the ribbon on a manufacturing, assembly and distribution facility in Trenton that has created hundreds of jobs in Edgefield County.

“This building houses an amazing team,” said Generac Power Systems Chief Operations Office Tom Pettit. “We are proud to be here in the community of South Carolina, and proud to have so many new Generac employees join the Generac family.”

Generac makes backup power generation products for residential, commercial and industrial markets. The new 421,000-square-foot facility – awash in robotics, automation and cutting-edge digital systems – is “critical to meeting the needs of our customers” as demand increases, Pettit said.

BIRMINGHAM, AL (August 25, 2021) – Edgefield County, South Carolina, is partnering with Retail Strategies to develop and execute a retail economic development strategy to draw attention to the County’s Special Incentive Zones.

By hiring a firm with business-savvy expertise, the County will receive market research, a customized recruitment plan, and national retailer outreach by the Retail Strategies team.

“Edgefield County is in a rural part of South Carolina, and we understand the need to be armed with data and market research to create an effective outreach strategy,” said Will Williams, president and CEO of the Economic Development Partnership. “By teaming up with Retail Strategies, we’ll be able to know how retailers view our area and the best ways to market the County’s Incentive Zones.”

“By teaming up with Retail Strategies, we’ll be able to know how retailers view our area and the best ways to market the County’s Incentive Zones.”

Will Williams, President and CEO, Economic Development Partnership

The work of the company is focused on the Incentive Zones surrounding the towns of Edgefield, Johnston, and Trenton. These special zones allow for certain tax allowances and other incentives for businesses willing to locate there.

“Retail Strategies has extensive experience working with small and rural communities,” said Lacey Bacchus, business developer at Retail Strategies. “The market study, real estate assessment, and industry knowledge that we will provide to Edgefield County and the Economic Development Partnership will provide them with valuable insight of the market’s retail and real estate opportunities. Our goal is to bring more commercial and retail business to Edgefield County.”

Through the new partnership, Retail Strategies will perform a real estate market analysis of Edgefield County. The Retail Strategies team will work hand-in-hand with the Economic Development Partnership and County leaders in efforts for retail attraction.

The funding for the partnership is coming from the American Rescue Plan, which was passed by Congress and signed by the President earlier this year.
