MTU America
The Salute to Manufacturing awards closed out the S.C. Manufacturing Conference & Expo held [the first week of November] at the Charleston Area Convention Center in North Charleston. The award winners were announced during a special luncheon following the two-day conference and a keynote address by Gov. Henry McMaster.
McMaster also presented the awards to 12 companies in several categories. Aiken County manufacturer MTU was one of the twelve recognized.
MTU America produces large, complex off-highway diesel engines for applications in construction and industrial, generators and locomotives. In February, MTU America started an “Industry 4.0” journey using artificial intelligence to improve yield and save the company millions of dollars. The new AI effort also predicts quality issues before they impact production, allowing engineers to fix problems before they turn into costly failures.
