South Carolina is showing the world that it is ‘Just right’ for the automotive industry and ‘Just right’ for MTU America Inc.
As the hallmark brand of the German-based Rolls-Royce Power Systems Group, MTU is one the world’s top automotive manufacturers of premium diesel engines. In 2010, the company located its only North American testing, research and development center in Aiken County. The Research and Development Center at the MTU Aiken Plant features advanced technologies that aid in the design of cleaner, more efficient and more powerful versions of the MTU Series 2000 and Series 4000 off-highway diesel engines. To date, MTU has invested approximately $100 million at its Graniteville facility, where it currently employs 300 people.
