Aiken County was recently recognized in Southern Business and Development’s (SB&D) “Dixie Dozen,” a salute to parishes or counties in a state that continue to attract manufacturing jobs. Throughout the South, pockets of industry and commerce are bringing renewal to communities, and Aiken County is one of those communities.
The “Dixie Dozen” features areas that attracted multiple projects during the years of 2010 to 2016 and created 50 or more jobs, an amazing accomplishment because each community has a population of 200,000 or less. During this period, Aiken County had 16 qualifying projects, which “is a giant validation that this community is a manufacturing stalwart.” This is the second year in a row SB&D has recognized Aiken County. Last year, the county was named as one of the “Best Small Markets in the South for the Automotive Industry.”
