Over the past two decades, Aiken and adjoining Edgefield Counties have been one of the top performers in economic development in their peer group in the South. The two-county area, located just across the state line from Augusta, Ga., is perfect for reshored industries. In fact, Aiken is one of the most successful manufacturing centers in the Palmetto State, which is home to Boeing and BMW.
One of the reasons manufacturers are attracted to Aiken is the talented labor shed that exists there. The Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) has attracted some of the world’s best researchers and the U.S. Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site specializes in applied research and development.
Aiken and Edgefield Counties are home to some of the South’s largest industries whose level of success has dramatically increased since they made their relocation or expansion move. Esteemed industrial businesses such as Kimberly-Clark, Bridgestone Americas, MTU, Urban Outfitters, Bondex and Southern Felt have all found a perfect fit in Aiken and Edgefield Counties.
